Jesus, drawing from what the disciples see around them, says "consider the lilies." These flowers were notably short in their splendour but shone with the glory of their Creator. Jesus encouraged the disciples to realize that since God cared for them in their short lived brilliance He would so much more care for us. So stop worrying! He knows us and loves us and will meet our daily needs - give us our daily bread.
